About the Photographer.

What can I say? I love my job . noI really Do love creating photos . It is a flaw and a blessing. But I think balances out quite nicely.
I have been making images since I was 12, but got very serious about photography while working in a local photo store for over 10 years (that’s right folks if Nikon or Canon built it, I got to touch it at least once.... or at least drool over some of it) .
My main love is working with people. Weddings , engagements and the occasional model . I start with no plans and let the shoot evolve naturally with the help of the people I photograph.
If you are up to the challenge, I will create something different and very cool for you.
Just tell me when and where and I am there.

Beautiful Baby Bump….to a Beautiful baby .

Niki and Fred had the right frame of mind coming into the studio for their maternity portrait. They knew the story they wanted to tell and  were thinking about which wall they wanted their portrait hung on even before they came into the studio.

This couple’s maternity session was awesome because it had a heart warming story about their dog who knew the moment that Niki became pregnant even before she did.  He kept by her side and was always laying on her stomach and looking at her in a way to say… somethings up mom.  So I was glad  to incorporate this into the photo. Working with animals is not always predictable but this went so  well and we got great results. I still thank them for letting me do the doggy/couch concept shot.

Fred and Niki of course gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby  and were soon back in the studio to do their very first baby session. Their baby was a joy to photograph.  An infant so young and yet so expressive.  Still makes me smile when I look at the photos and see how much the little one looks like Fred.

Here are just a few of the images that are now proudly displayed on gallery canvas wall portraits on Fred and Niki’s walls at home.

Enjoy.

Studio Renovations so far……

As many of you know I am putting some extra time and effort  into renovation our home studio to make it more comfy and inviting. . You will notice the start to our proof viewing room  where clients come to view and choose their prints on a 60″ wide screen. This way they get to see the true potential of their portrait at a wall portrait size. A few more pieces of drywall in the studio and some paint and a fully finished bathroom and change room  then we will have it done. Sounds like a lot … well I guess it is.  I will try to post update photos as we proceed. Keep in mind I am doing this mostly by myself with lots of help from my father and father in law as well as my very handy brother (he got the handy gene … I did not). Big thank you to them all .

IMG_1132There that should tie me over for a few days! Whew!!

Old school wedding photography… takes on a new meaning!!

I have been giddy like a little kid waiting for christmas morning all month. I had the magic key to get into an abandoned Jr high in our hometown.  Now all of you know how I love old buildings . So it was fantastic when the coolest bride and groom gave me the opportunity to work in the halls of an old school to give them a very different and cool look to their wedding photos.  Don’t worry folk we did the traditional photos and got some great outdoor photos while it was still light . These are only a few that I quickly and excitedly editied after I got home from the wedding. Thats right the wedding dance is still going on as I post these. I am such a nerd.

Enjoy  theses few images and stay tuned for more images from Emily and Donald’s Super awesome wedding day.

Amarinda Washington Grad/Senior take 2.

Wow what a great session. This is what grad photos should be . Fun beautiful edgy and a bit silly.

Working with Amarinda in the studio  was a breath of fresh air.  She knows how to pose and be natural in front of the camera.  I can’t wait to work with her again later in the year.

Big thanks to her very cool boyfriend Richard who helped with the shoot and even got some great grad photos of himself.

If anyone wants to book for wild and crazy grad photos for next year please contact me by phone or email.

here are just a few from our session.

Enjoy.
